Our Computers, Ourselves

Are computers and the internet just tools for humans to utlize and improve our lives or will they fundamentally change the way we process and think? Plato once criticized writing because he said we would spend all of our time doing it and not interact with other humans or be able to retain any memory. Does this argument sound familiar?
